I’m a person new to Data Analysis, having recently completed my Google certificate. I’ll post my projects here as I complete them:
This, my second project, is an exercise in data analysis using a sample of data obtained from Kaggle.com for my Google data analysis certificate. I use ‘R’ to analyze data logged by Fitbit smart devices in order to make recommendations for the Bellabeat corporation. Presented below are the report slides, but the data analysis can also be viewed on Kaggle.com.
My first project is an exercise in data visualization and storytelling, called “Does American need a Universal Basic Income?”. The idea of a Universal Basic Income, or UBI was brought into the mainstream with the candidate Andrew Yang in the 2020 election. With the rise of AI and automation, it’s a serious question. I analyzed numbers from datasets obtained from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to look at job trends in the past 20 years. Then I presented some data from statista.com about the fraction of “gig workers” with health insurance and retirement savings. Finally, I looked at the savings and worries of the American people. Overall, it shows that the American workforce is evolving, and workers can benefit from a basis of health insurance and a basic income that would allow them to retrain when needed.
